Comments on "Niece Name Update: An otter is an otter is an otter."
Hey! Otter is a great name! In fact, my last name includes the word Otter. My last name is of Dutch origins and means "The Otter." BTW, the Dutch word for Otter is otter. :)
If you tell them that otter isn't a completely strange and unusual name, will they change it? It might also lead to her becoming an amazing swimmer. My whole family are intense, strong swimmers. Strange but true!
Just because her name is something else on paper, doesn't mean YOU can't start a campaign to re-name her, by sheer USAGE of the name Otter. And encourage the brother to do the same.
She'll get used to her new name eventually, and heck, she might even choose to go by it as an adult.
And HOW cool would that be?
